  • Logistical constraints – Are there any restrictions on your ability to relocate for work?
  • Support at home – Does your family support and approve of your career choices?
  • Ability to adapt to change – What is your ability to adapt to change?
  • It is not easy to make a career change. Your career prospects can be limited by limiting your personal and/or professional capabilities. It is important to regularly assess your current situation and take inventory. Because life can sneak up on you when you least expect it. POP! This is what Dave Ramsey calls a “Life Happening”. Are you a recent career changer or have you made one in the past. Did you have a process for your first 100 days? Please share your experiences and lessons learned. Personally, I enjoyed the 8 point plan in the book You’re In Charge Now What? Neff and Citrin authored the book. These are the generalities of the 8-point plan?

  • Self-preparation – Take stock and prepare for the unpredictable ride
  • Your expectations?- Get in touch?at the individual level with the organizational pulse?
  • Your team? – Create a performance-based team that builds on your strengths
  • Your strategic formula (initial growth, maturity, maturity)?- Create?an agenda
  • Your cultural challenges?- Be prepared for “We don’t do that here.”
  • What is the role of your boss? – Make sure you are on board
  • What are your communication channels? – Communicate, listen, and be open to hearing from you.
  • Your pitfalls – Avoid being a HERO, and keep an eye on the three points above
  • Last thought. Change is good. It is when it is forced to change that?foster resistance.
