– The first Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide was published in 1996. It contained 9 knowledge areas and 37 processes.
– Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide 2nd Edition was published in 2000 with 39 processes.
– Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide 3rd Edition was published in 2004 with 44 processes.
The 4th edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide was published in 2008 and includes 42 processes.

Major Updates in Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide 2020
The 5th edition was the last major update. The inclusion of agile concepts was made possible by the 6th edition of Project Management Body of Knowledge. PMI announced that the PMP Exam Change will be changing. One of the major changes was the inclusion of agile-related questions into the syllabus.
The PMP exam will be changing starting January 2021, according to the latest update. Participants who wish to obtain the PMP certification using the current version can take the exam up until 31 December 2020. A new version of PMP will be available starting 2 January 2021.
