Many people find paperwork tedious and sometimes even unnecessary. Project management is a different matter. Because projects are complex, there are many steps that must be taken throughout the project’s life cycle. A solid framework should be established to guide the management of a project in accordance with the PMP certification training. These frameworks are based on the project management processes. These are the most important documents for project management.

Without proper documentation, a project cannot be managed. Therefore, it is important to have many project documents available for all phases. The project documents will ensure that the project is successful. These project documents can also be used as part of organizational process assets for future projects.

What are the main documents for a project?

Project charter: The project charter is an important document. The purpose of creating a project chart is to document high-level project information. This document contains the business case, stakeholders and product specification. These information are essential for the start of the planning process.

Procurement papers: These documents are used to describe the relationships between the organization’s vendors and suppliers. They describe how goods and services will be procured. Proposals, contracts, offers, etc. These types of procurement papers can be identified.
Assignment sheets: These sheets are similar to the task lists that are assigned to project team members.
Statement of work: This document identifies activities that are specific to the project, deliverables, schedule, and other information expected from a vendor who provides services to the client. This document is created by the customer or sponsor. SOW describes the requirements, product scope, and how this project fits into their strategic plans. This is a type of legal contract between the vendor and the organization, which ensures that the vendor will fulfill the requested information.
Activity list: This document lists all activities that must be completed during a project’s various phases. It is useful for all members of the project team to know what has been done and what is coming up during the process.
Quality metrics: The project documents, also known as the quality metrics, have three aspects.
